Sister-Sister Event...Not (Thank God it was Free!)

Somehow I lucked out and got 2 free tickets to the Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull concert at the Bell Centre. This could have been a Sister-Sister event, unfortunately Lily is away in Uni, but I managed to rope CW into going with me. It also basically turned into a work outing, about 8 of my co-works also got free tickets.  This is usually not a type of concert either one of  us would normally pay to see, but since it was free why not.  I had zero expectations, maybe I would be blown away by it (see this is my ass backwards logic working here).

This is the End
Let's rewind to the beginning:

Sister-Sister Event #1 of 2014

2013 was crammed packed with sister-sister events, 2014 the sister-sister events have calmed down quite a bit (my wallet was definitely grateful for the break!).  I don't think we would have had any sister-sister concert events in 2014 if this wasn't re-scheduled.

Sister-Sister Event #5 of 2013-Part 2

After the concert, Lily really wanted to see if Selena would come out and greet the fans after her show.  Word on the street was she greeted fans after each show, there were pics of her with fans in Winnipeg and Ottawa.  Since we didn't purchase the meet and greet this time around, I decided to indulge her and make our way to the back of the Bell Centre. The meet and greets for Selena's first tour were reasonable, this time around the meet and greets were basically equivalent to a vacation; so I passed.

This was the scene that greeted us at the back of the Bell Centre

Sister-Sister Event #4 of 2013

We purchased the tickets one year in advance, I was a little skeptical when Lily  suggested we go. A lot can happen in a year, the band may break up, the date may be re-scheduled/cancelled. Since we purchased the tickets so far in advance, we kinda of lost interest in concert but as the date approached and One-Direction pandemonium descended on Montreal, we were feeling it again.

One Direction arrived in Montreal the day before the concert and tons of teenage girls were stalking them.  Fans anxiously awaited for them  at the Ritz Carlton, a few of them were even mobbed while shopping at Urban Outfitters, girls were even in alley ways trying to catch a glimpse of them.  On No They Didn't has managed to capture the chaos (click here and here).  I must admit I have never seen a boy band cause so much chaos in Montreal, but than again back in my day it was all about 'N sync and Back Street Boys. These previous boy bands may have caused similar chaos but I'll never know because youtube and social media did not exist back then.

Plus I have no idea, how fans find out where celebrities stay when they're in town.  I guess you really can't under estimate the power of teenage girls. But can someone seriously enlighten me on how people find out about these things?  Out of curiosity, I have googled no luck, I have tried reading forums, no luck either, I have only seen people declaring there undying love for them. Unless there are secret forums???

And now for the big event:

Back to Back Sister-Sister Events

This is probably one of the main reasons I barely get to plan any vacations. Last week we had 2 back to back sister-sister events

Thursday it was

I would definitely classified this as a reliving my youth  moment.

Followed by a trip to into the Jungle on Friday.

The Wedding OOTDs

As you can tell from Lily's post, we attended a wedding last weekend.  I had no idea she would be so excited, I knew she really wanted to come with me as my plus one and I really glad I brought her, she was an extra pair of hands on that day.

I love and hate going to weddings; I love them because you get to witness such a joyous occasion and of course there is typically good food and great company. What I hate about them is finding the appropriate outfit. Especially if it's an Asian wedding, because that requires an outfit changes.  Yes, you are reading this correctly, typically there is an outfit change for the guest as well in Asian wedding.  Any Asian people reading this, completely know what I'm talking about, I swear I'm not making this up.

Thank god this was a non-Asian wedding, I was determined not to run out and buy a new dress.

Getting ready- for the unanticipated Sister-Sister Event

Once the invited arrived, Lily not so subtly asked if she could be my plus one.  I agreed, without realizing how much work it would entail.  She was an extra person, I had to apply my amateur makeup skills on. I'm not a pro, I dabble here and there and I think I do a decent job when it comes to doing my own makeup for special events, but it still takes me about an hour to slap my face on.

Applying makeup on another person is completely a different story, it so odd applying makeup on someone else (am I the only one who things this?).

So I had Lily look up some inspiration looks, and she finally settled on the Jasmine look that Jen from head to toe had done a tutorial on.

Madonna and a Victoria secret Angel yup that was our Thursday

So this past Thursday was our Sister-Sister Event #2 of 2012, if you live in the MTL area you would know that meant Madonna was in town. I had arranged to leave work early so I could catch a quick power nap before the concert. It's Madonna so I was expecting that she would most probably not start on time.

Thursday also happened to be the day of the grand opening of the Victoria Secret store in Laval, to be honest I didn't even know about this event until Lily texted me asking me if we could go because one of the angels was making an appearance.

There goes  my nap, I really didn't think we would have time to go to Laval and then downtown if you factored in the unpredictable traffic in MTL. But Lily wanted to meet the Victoria Secret angel so I said we can attempt to meet the Victoria Secret angel.  Were we successful?

The Last 2 Weeks in Review

I have been a little MIA these last 2 weeks, so here is a fast recap of my last 2 weeks.

For some bizarre reason, this year all the Montreal summer festivals seemed to have happened a couple of weeks earlier than expected.  Even the international firework competition schedule was switched from a Wednesday and Saturday to a Tuesday and Friday. I must have been living under a rock or something.

I managed to catch one comedy show during the Just for Laughs Festival, that was mainly because Lily really wanted (more like needed) a buddy to go see this show.  I guess you can add this to the Sister-Sister Event category.

Sister & Sister Dooney and Burke Bags

Lily does this to me all the time, she cons me into buying things under the pretense that we could share it. The only problem is that we are horrible at sharing, so in the end we never really end up sharing.  Case and point, Lily spotted this Dooney & Burke bag and had been longing for it for ages; so last year I bought it for her as a Christmas present.

No you're eyes are not fooling you!

Sister Sister Event #3 of 2012

Lily and I don't do a lot of sister-sister things besides occasional shopping, but the one thing we do together a lot is going to concerts. We are complete polar opposites; I love going to operas and ballets, Lily loves going to see indie artists (as you can tell from her posts). I can't believe I'm even going to be posting this! Part of me should be embarrassed but the other part of me is like meh I'm not ashamed to admit it.  So here is our sister-sister event #3 of 2012

Sister Sister Event #2 of 2012

Sorry guys for being MIA lately, I somehow came down with the worst cold of 2012! It knocked me out for 5 days and hopefully it will be the only and last cold I get of 2012.  I have been wanting to post this for a while but just ever got around to it.  So our sister sister event #2...drum roll please.

The first 5 minutes

16 minutes later

 But

That's right, we lucked out and score some Madonna tickets for her MDNA tour! Lily was on her laptop, I was on the desktop, both us wore frantically calling Evenko on our cells.  Funny thing is, I don't think neither of us are die-hard Madonna Fans. We figure we should at least catch her in action before she retires.  This was worst than trying to score Hab tickets in September.

I have never seen a concert sell out so fast! According to twitter, it sold out in 16 minutes.  But then again it's Madonna! did I really expect anything less?

We don't have the greatest seats, but at least we have an un-obstructive view facing the stage.  I'm thinking that at a Madonna concert its more the atmosphere that makes it a great experience.

The First Sister-Sister Event of 2012

One of the major reasons we started this blog, was to get to know each other better as sisters.  When Lily was born, I was like wow, my very own live Barbie doll.  Then she became mobile and picked up this pesky skill call "talking"; it quickly went down hill from there.   There wore several memorable moments, where I really wish I didn't have a younger sister.
  • Moment 1: When she took my entire sticker collection and decided to decorate her lamp shade.
  • Moment 2: When she un-wrapped all my Bazooka  gums for the joke, and then perfectly re-wrapped them. The first gum I unwrapped and didn't find the joke, I thought maybe I got a dud, but after un-wrapping the 5th gum and still no joke, I was like what the hell! and then in comes this munchkin asking me if I wanted to see her collection of jokes.
  • Moment 3: When she decided to paint by numbers with my make up brushes.
From that moment on we wore more at each others throats than having this tight sister sister bond.  CW would always say I'm sure you guys will get along when she's 16.  Six teen came and went, and we wore still not getting along.  I was convince we would never get along, but last year was the turning point, we started to do a lot more things together (I'll do a separate post on that later).  Don't get me wrong she still has her teen angst moments every now and then, but she's a lot more fun now.  So our first sister-sister event of 2012:

Swan Lake

Swan lake- Les Grand Ballets Canadiens de Montreal.  And no I was not inspired to watch it because of the Black Swan.  I really wanted to see after catching the documentary produced by BBC: Agony and Ecstasy: A year with English National Ballet.

I have always loved the ballet, there something just so magically about the ballet.  Unfortunately not a lot of people do. Use #1 for younger sister: she's a permanent buddy, plus it doesn't hurt that she also wanted to see the ballet as well. Let's just hope this does not turn into the who Nutcracker fiasco.
